Symptoms

When building a InstallShield project, the following warning may occur:

"ISDEV : warning -1527: No files are included in the project."

Cause

This warning message occurs when no files are included in the project. Some installations only create shortcuts, registry entries, or other elements and do not specifically include files. If this is your desire, then this warning can be safely ignored. However, the vast majority of setup authors need to include files in their projects, and this message notifies them that no files are included in the project.

Resolution

To resolve this warning message, insert at least one file into your project. This can be done by following these steps:

1. Select the Files and Folders view.

2. Drag and drop a file from the "Source computer's files" panel in the upper right to the "Destination computer's files" panel in the lower right.

3. Rebuild the project.

These steps include a file into your project and install it to the location specified in the lower left panel entitled "Destination computer's folders" in the Files and Folders view.
