Question
What are all the possibilities of getting a Virtual clients are not supported error while activating a license on a virtual machine?
Answer
There can be many reasons for activation failure with this error. However, it is always good to check the following points for possible solutions:
- First open FlexNet Operations Cloud Producer Portal and select Administer > License Models.
- Search for the appropriate license model and click on it to open the first panel of the Package Products - License Models page: Create a License Model.
- Click Next twice to open the Set Up Policies panel.
- Under Virtualization Policy, check the setting for the Allow activation on virtual machines? option. If it is set to No, then update it to Yes. By default, it is set to Yes.
- In the Client Kit, make sure that the VM Detection Enabled option is selected. The following is an example from the demo .NET kit:
- Also, open FlexNet Operations Cloud Producer Portal, and select System > Configure > Embedded Devices. Under Capability Request Handling, make sure that Prohibit Virtual Hosts is not selected.
