Summary

This article explains how to configure FlexNet Operations On-Premises to generate an ASR (Activation Specification Record) file that can be activated on both physical and virtual machines.

Synopsis

FlexNet Operations On-Premises supports the creation of ASR files that are valid for activation on both physical and virtual machines, starting with version 12.11 SP2.

Discussion

To enable this functionality:

1. Log in to the Producer Portal of FlexNet Operations On-Premises.
2. Navigate to System > Configure.
3. Click Trusted Storage to open the configuration page for trusted activation.
4. Under General Options, select the configuration option Force default Transaction Key for all FNP versions.

Enabling this setting forces the use of a default transaction key for all trusted activations, regardless of whether the activation originates from a physical or virtual machine. When selected, FlexNet Operations does not require virtualization-aware transaction keys for activations originating from virtual machines.

Additional Information

By default, the configuration option Force default Transaction Key for all FNP versions is unselected. This allows trusted activations from earlier, supported FlexNet Publisher versions to use virtualization-aware transaction keys when the activation originated from a virtual machine (and a VMID is present).
