A common request is to customize the SQL Express 2005 Setup Prerequisite, often for silent installation, customized instances, security, etc.

Discussion

1. In the Redistributables view, select the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Prerequisite
2. Right click on this, and select 'Edit Prerequisite'
3. Navigate to the Prerequisite Editor's 'Application to Run' tab.
4. In the 'Specify the command line for the application' box, enter any custom parameters as detailed in the following MSDN Knowledge Base article, 144259 HOWTO: Install SQL Server 2005 from the Command Prompt.

   NOTE: Please note that beyond providing information on how to configure parameters for the SQL Express prerequisite, we are unable to provide assistance in the event of unexpected behavior as a result of custom commandline parameters being used. As the default prerequisite only launches the standard Microsoft redistributable, the recommendation for troubleshooting issues regarding customizations similar to this, would be to contact Microsoft for further assistance.
