Synopsis

This article discusses how to disable certain buttons in the Add/Remove Control Programs Applet.

Discussion

This can be achieved by selecting the options on the General Information View. In this view, there are three options available to you, the Disable Change Button, Disable Remove Button, and Disable Repair Button. If one would want one of these options to not be available to the end user from the Add/Remove Program applet then all one would need to do is set the appropriate option to yes.

For example if one wanted to disable the Remove button then one would follow these steps:

1. Open your project.

2. Browse to the General Information View.

3. Click on the Add/Remove Programs entry in the middle pane.

4. Set the Disable Remove Button property to Yes.

5. Build the release and run the release. In the Add/Remove Program entry, the Remove Button will be disabled.

Note: These options only apply to Windows 2000 and newer operating systems.
