The following Knowledge Base article will show you how you can disable the time stamp when performing a digital signature in InstallShield.

This may become necessary if the time stamp server being used has expired. If this occurs, the InstallShield build will flag this during the build and not sign your build media.

Discussion

If you want to digitally sign, but want to turn off the Time Stamp, please follow the below steps to disable the time stamp server.

1.) The time stamp server can be set in the 'Settings.xml' file.

NOTE: Please backup the 'Settings.xml' file before making any changes.

Go to C:\Program Files\<INSTALLSHIELD LOCATION>\Support\0409, you will find ?Settings.xml? file.

2.) Right click on ?Settings.xml? file and click on edit. You should be able to open ?Settings.xml? file in notepad.

3.) In Settings.xml file you will find the below line.

Please remove the following link (http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll) and now the line should look like this <DigitalSignature Timestamp=""/> and save the file.

4.) Build the project again and this time it it will digitally sign without using a time stamp.
