This article discusses 3rd Party License Server Management using FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.

Synopsis

Custom plugins can be developed and used with FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications to help manage 3^rd party license servers (that is, license servers that are not based on FlexLM). This capability enables both operational management of 3^rd party license servers (with actions such as start, stop, status reporting and log rotatation), and an optional capability using a rules based engine to generate CRL (Common Report Log) files from raw usage data generated by the 3^rd party technologies.

Discussion

FlexNet Manager for Engineering agents from version 5.x provide the ability to use custom plugins to manage license server technologies that are NOT covered out of the box. This solution offering leverages this plugin capability and instead of developing a different plugin for each different 3rd party technology the solution here is a generic set of plugins to allow any 3^rd party license servers to be registered with FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.
