Symptoms

When attempting to save an record in the web UI that includes an email field, one of the following error messages may be displayed if the top level domain in the email address is longer than 6 characters:

Invalid email format

A valid email format is required (for example, myname@gmail.com). No more than 200 characters.

Here is an example of an email address which will cause this error to be displayed: joe@acme.abcdefg

On the other hand, the following email address will not result in this error: joe@abcdefg.acme

Record types that have a field containing an email address that may be affected by this issue include:

• Accounts
• Users
• Vendors
• Inventory devices with a type of “Mobile device”

Workaround

There is no known workaround to avoid this error when editing details in the UI.
