Cause

This seems to be caused by the Windows-style newlines versus UNIX-style newlines. When copying a license file from Windows that has been signed and the NOTICE field is truncated to a new line (See example below). It seems this will render the license file invalid with the 'Invalid license key (inconsistent authentication code)' error, although this is a valid license file.

Resolution

Open the license file in Linux and remove offending new line.
