Synopsis

The InstallShield Cabinet and Log File Viewer lets you open various files based on InstallScript and InstallScript MSI projects. As a reference, the data1.cab (the InstallScript cabinet file), data1.hdr (the InstallScript header file that InstallShield creates for InstallScript and InstallScript Object projects) and the Setup.ilg can be opened. The InstallShield Cabinet and Log File Viewer also facilitates extracting files from some of these files.

The IsCabView.exe file can be found in the System directory where InstallShield is installed.

For example, using InstallShield 2016 on an x64 client you can expect the file here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield\2016\System

You can expect a log file, setup.ilg, to be created at the end of install and can be viewed with the cab and log tool. For example, as a debugging effort it possible to check what files and registry entries are added, successfully or not.
