What is the exact time when a license will be expired?

If the license expires on 05-dec-2012, is the expected behaviour to that the license can still be checked out on 05-dec-2012 until midnight or that the license cannot be checked out 1 minute after midnight?

Discussion

If the license expiration date is 5^th of December 2012, then the customer can checkout the license until midnight. If after midnight the customer attempts a checkout then it will fail. If the customer tries to checkout at 12.01 AM the license will NOT be checked out.
