Summary
This article discusses registering .wsc files in InstallShield.Synopsis
This article discusses registering .wsc files in InstallShield. Windows Installer and InstallShield does not have any native support for registering .wsc files so this will require a custom action.Discussion
Because .wsc files do not have DllRegisterServer function, registering one requires calling into regsvr32.exe. Regsvr32.exe typically can call the DllRegisterServer function in scrobj.dll and pass the .wsc file as an argument which is then parsed through to perform the registration as long as the script component package exists. Otherwise, if the script component package does not exist, scrobj.dll have to be explicitly specified when registering .wsc files through regsvr32.In InstallShield, use an exe or script custom action to invoke regsvr32.exe for the purpose of registering .wsc files like so:
regsvr32 file:\\myserver\MyComponent.wsc OR
regsvr32 scrobj.dll /n /i:file:\\myserver\MyComponent.wsc
