Symptoms


When attempting to build using the Installshield 2016 Stand Alone Build Engine you may see the following error:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)

Cause



Known causes of this error are due to::

1. Corruption within the installation of the Stand Alone Build Engine itself
2. An issue with one of the prerequistes necessary for the SAB
3. Antivirus on the machine is preventing the build to complete

Resolution

  • Uninstall and reinstall the Installshield Stand Alone Build Engine, the installation of which can be downloaded from your Product and Licence Centre account.
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling each of the prerequisites needed for the Standalone build to work, For Installshield 2016 these are:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package (x86)
  • Disable your antivirus to see if this changes the behaviour.
