Symptoms

If your project builds fine within the IDE, but fails when building with the Standalone Build with the following error:

ISDEV : error -4072: Error retrieving dependency [Dependency] of [MergeModule]

This may be caused because the dependency of the merge module is obsolete and so is excluded from the build when using the IDE.

Cause

InstallShield includes an ini file which suppresses build warnings for obsolete merge module dependencies located at C:\Program FIles (x86)\InstallShield\2015\Support\HideMM.ini. Its possible that this ini file is missing from your Standalone Build installation.

Workaround

To resolve the build error you can simply copy the ini file from the IDE install C:\Program FIles (x86)\InstallShield\2015\Support\HideMM.ini to the Support folder of your Standalone Build installation. This will allow the Standalone Build to ignore any missing dependencies which are listed as obsolete.
