By default the InstallShield SQL Scripts view related custom actions use the Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle when connecting to an Oracle server. In certain circumstances it may be desired to instead use the Oracle ODBC driver. This can be done by altering project settings and is discussed here.

Discussion

Here are the steps to make the install use Oracle ODBC driver:

1. In the IDE go to Additional Tools - Direct Editor and select the table called ISSQLDBMetaData.
2. Go to third column called AdoDriverName. Change this to the actual name of the Oracle driver as it appears in Administrative Tools - Data Sources view of the operating system. For version 10.1 this is as follows:
   {Oracle in instantclient10_1}
3. Change the fifth column called AdoCxnServer to the following:
   DBQ=
4. Build the install and test on a system that has the specified version of the Oracle driver present.
