Symptoms

This could be a known problem if you notice the following symptoms;

1/ In the system setting page both the following are ON under Inventory>Virtual Machines
- Link virtual machine to the same asset as VM host and
- Update virtual machine location to match host location

2/ From All inventory page, pick a VM host that is linked to an asset.

3/ Look for the VMs under this host. As per the setting in #1, all the VMs should be tied to the same asset as the VM host

4/ But if you look under 'Discovery and Inventory > Inventory without Assets' page we see these VMs

5/ Also in this page, the 'Link to Asset' tab is grayed out, we cannot create an asset for these VMs.

6/ Expectation - if the host is linked to an asset, all the VMs under the host should be linked to the same asset as per the setting in the System Settings page.

Resolution

This is reported as a Bug FNMS-17720. There is no workaround for this at this time.
