Summary

If a property value being displayed on a suite dialog contains enclosing square brackets, it is evaluated again instead of displaying the string with brackets.

Symptoms

If a property value being displayed on a suite dialog contains enclosing square brackets, it is evaluated again instead of displaying the string with brackets. This also affects the display of file paths and command line arguments being passed to the suite install.

Cause

The strings with enclosing brackets are being evaluated as properties. The resulting path or file name being displayed is incorrect.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. File > New > Suite
  2. Add button control to one of the dialogs (eg InstallationWelcome)
  3. Add Browse for File click event to button
  4. Provide Property name all upper case (eg LICENSEFILE)
  5. Navigate to Behavior and Logic > Property Manager - Add property LICENSEFILE
  6. Include Feature and add sample MSI so suite project builds
  7. Build and run
  8. On panel from step #2 Click on custom button and point to a file with square brackets as a name (eg Expires on [12-31-2020].xml)
  9. Close browse to dialog and Click on custom button again

Resolution

The issue, IOJ-1730924, is reported to Engineering and is currently awaiting a resolution.
