FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R2 enables you to configure license restrictions based on custom report results. This feature eliminates the need to manually allocate all your devices to consume their correct production or non-production scenario licenses.

While you can use this feature to restrict licenses based on various other criteria, the example below will show you how to set up a license to restrict consumption based on device role.

1. Navigate to Reporting > Saved Reports.  Click Create a Report.
2. In the Configure menu, select Inventory Device, Add, then click the + symbol to add the column "Role" from the column selector.

3. Select Preview and Filter and the Edit advanced filter button on the right.
4. Click the Advanced filter link and add the filter "Inventory device - Role Does not equal Production".
   • This will filter the resulting report for devices not in the production role only.
5. Save the report and give it a title, like “Non-prod devices".

IMPORTANT: Make sure permissions are set to public or the report cannot be used for the license.

6. Run the report and confirm that the resulting output contains the devices that are allowed to consume the license.

NOTE: This is a restriction, not an allocation. Devices on this list are eligible to consume the non-prod license but will not unless it has an installation of the product.

7. Return to management view and open the non-production license.
8. In the Restrictions tab of the license, search for the report above under the Device group section, click the add report button, and save the license.

9. Repeat the steps above to create a "Prod devices" report that is filtered by "Inventory device - Role equals Production" and apply this to the production license.

After the next reconciliation, the restrictions will apply. Your devices will now consume the correct licenses.
