Discussion
TARGETDIR is no longer the main destination directory in Developer 7.0 and later InstallShield products because it is a predefined Microsoft Installer Service property. One of the many properties provided by the Microsoft Installer is TARGETDIR. The Installer uses this property as the location to copy an installation package during an administrative installation. The Installer also requires TARGETDIR to be the name of one root in the directory table. Because this property is already in use by the Microsoft Installer, InstallShield cannot use it as the main destination directory. INSTALLDIR is a property defined by InstallShield that replaces the old TARGETDIR used in the Professional Standard Edition. When you migrate an old script to a newer version, all references to TARGETDIR should automatically be changed to INSTALLDIR.
