What's the difference between binding and UMN values?

Binding is a capability used with trusted storage where one or more properties of a system, combined together into a unique identifier, are used to ensure that license rights held in trusted storage are not copied to another system. Binding is used whenever there's a checkout (not during the Activation).

UMN values are generated using the information obtained from the system hardware. Different hardware information is used for different operating systems. UMN1 is the HDD serial number, whereas UMN2 is the MAC address. These are used only during the Activation phase (not during an actual license checkout via client trusted storage or during the license serving period in server trusted storage).
