Edition detection limitations

When Oracle Coherence is deployed as part of Oracle WebLogic, edition detection for Coherence currently relies solely on Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) evidence. OUI does not confirm whether Coherence is configured or actively used, which creates limitations in compliance and licensing validation.

Licensing guidance

WebLogic Standard Edition

Coherence isn’t included in WebLogic Standard Edition licensing. In this scenario, you shouldn’t deploy Coherence on any device where Standard Edition is installed.

WebLogic Enterprise Edition

If you use WebLogic Enterprise Edition:

• You can install Coherence on the same device as WebLogic Enterprise Edition.
• WebLogic Enterprise Edition licensing can cover Coherence through license bundling.
• Configure WebLogic Enterprise Edition licensing so it includes Coherence as a supplementary product.
