1. Create or select a virtual node group

   In your Ocean AKS cluster, either create a new virtual node group or select an existing one.
   You can also import settings from an existing AKS node pool if you want to start from a known configuration.

2. Edit the virtual node group configuration

   Open the virtual node group configuration in JSON format.
   Locate or add the vmSizes section.

3. Define the required architecture

   Add an architectures filter under vmSizes to specify which CPU architecture Ocean should use when launching VMs.

   Example:

   "vmSizes": {
     "filters": {
       "architectures": [
         "x86_64"
       ],
       "series": []
     }
   }

   The architectures field accepts one or more of the following values:

   • x86_64 [includes both intel64 and amd64]

   • intel64

   • amd64

   • arm64

4. Optionally restrict the VM series

   To further control which VM types Ocean selects, add one or more VM series that support the chosen architecture.

   For example, to run workloads on arm64 VMs using the Dps_v5 series:

5. Save and apply the changes

   Save the virtual node group configuration.
   Ocean uses these filters for any new nodes it launches for this virtual node group.

After completing these steps, Ocean AKS launches new virtual machines that match the architecture and VM series you defined. Your workloads can then be scheduled onto nodes that meet your application’s architecture requirements.
