In some scenarios, you may need to create an application record in Snow License Manager even though no recognition evidence is available. A common example is when you want to attach licenses to an application that is not yet recognized in inventory data.
This article explains how to create a local application definition without recognition rules so it can be used for license management purposes.
- Open Snow Management and Configuration Center (SMACC).
- Navigate to Software Recognition > Application definitions.
- Click New Application.
- In the New Application wizard, enter the application details as needed.
- No recognition rules are required.
- Click OK to create the application.
Because the application has no associated recognition rules, it becomes available in Snow License Manager immediately.
- Open Snow License Manager.
- Go to Applications > Search for applications.
- Ensure that Include applications not installed is selected.
Once verified, the application can be used to attach and manage licenses.
NOTE:
• Applications created without recognition rules will not be linked to inventory automatically.
• This approach is intended for license management scenarios where recognition data is unavailable or not required.
