You may need to increase the OS disk size for a stateful node running on Azure to support growing storage requirements. The steps depend on how OS disk persistence is configured for the node.
This article explains how to increase disk size for stateful nodes that use reattach OS disk persistence or on‑launch OS disk persistence.
Increase disk size with reattach OS disk persistence
If the stateful node uses reattach persistence for the OS disk, you can resize the existing disk directly.
-
Pause the stateful node
In the Flexera console, pause the stateful node.
-
Resize the disk in Azure
In the Azure portal:
-
Go to Disks
-
Select the OS disk attached to the stateful node
-
Select Custom disk size
-
Increase the disk size and save the changes
-
-
Update the performance tier
If required, change the disk performance tier to match the new size.
-
Resume the stateful node
Return to the Flexera console and resume the stateful node.
Increase disk size with on‑launch OS disk persistence
If the stateful node uses on‑launch OS disk persistence, you must create a new disk and swap it.
-
Create a snapshot
In the Azure portal, take a snapshot of the OS disk used by the running stateful node virtual machine.
-
Create a new disk
Create a new disk from the snapshot and increase the disk size as needed.
You may also need to update the disk performance tier. -
Pause the stateful node
In the Flexera console, pause the stateful node.
-
Swap the OS disk
In the Flexera console:
-
Select Actions > Swap OS disk
-
Choose the resource group and the new disk name
-
Select Update & resume
-
After completing these steps, the stateful node runs with the increased OS disk size. The disk configuration remains consistent with the selected persistence model.
