Resolve the “no data to display” message for memory utilization on a stateful node

When viewing Memory utilization for a stateful node in Flexera on AWS, you may see a No data to display message. This happens when the required monitoring data is not available.

Memory utilization metrics are not collected by default in AWS. Flexera relies on the Amazon CloudWatch agent to gather and display this data. If the agent is not installed and running, memory graphs remain empty.

The steps below explain how to resolve the issue.

Cause

The Amazon CloudWatch agent is not installed or configured on the instance. Without the agent, AWS does not publish memory utilization metrics, and Flexera cannot display them in the console.

Solution

Install and configure the CloudWatch agent

Install the Amazon CloudWatch agent on the instance by following the AWS documentation:
- Install the CloudWatch agent
Create or import the stateful node

After the CloudWatch agent is installed and running, create a new stateful node or import an existing instance as a stateful node in the Flexera console.
Verify memory metrics

Open the stateful node and go to Monitoring > Memory utilization to confirm that data is now displayed.

Outcome

Once the CloudWatch agent is installed and the stateful node is created or imported, memory utilization metrics appear in the Flexera console and update as expected.
