Open the stateful node configuration

In the Flexera console, go to Elastigroup, select Stateful nodes, choose the stateful node, and then select Actions > Edit configuration.

Edit the configuration in JSON mode

Go to Review, select JSON, and switch to Edit mode.

Update the lifecycle to on‑demand

In the strategy section, change the lifecycle to on_demand.

Example:

Save and apply the configuration.

Recycle the stateful node

Select the stateful node and choose Actions > Recycle.
Flexera launches a new on‑demand instance.

Verify the new instance

Wait until the new on‑demand instance is running and healthy.

Prepare to delete the stateful node

Select the stateful node again and choose Actions > Edit configuration.

Go to Review > JSON and switch to Edit mode.

Delete the stateful node using the API

Use the API to delete the stateful node.
Set shouldTerminateInstance to false if you want to keep the running instance.

Note
If shouldTerminateInstance is not set to false, the instance is terminated when the stateful node is deleted.
