In Flexera One IT Asset Management and FlexNet Manager Suite, inventory devices and users can be excluded from license consumption by setting an exemption reason. However, applying an exemption reason also allocates the device or user to the license. This is expected behavior, but it can sometimes cause confusion when reviewing license details.
When you set an exemption reason for a device consuming a license:
- The Allocated column shows the value Yes.
- The Allocation type column displays Allocated.
- The selected Exemption Reason is shown.
- The Consumed value is set to 0.
This ensures the device or user is tracked against the license with an exemption applied, but does not consume any entitlements.
