Quarantine management is set up to move computers into quarantine and then inactive/delete after a certain number of days but this number of days total have passed since the last scan and the computer has not moved to the state expected.
QUARANTINE_DAYS are set to x and QUARANTINE_DELETE is set to y, but after x days the computer has not moved to quarantine or after x+y days the computer has not been moved to inactive/delete.
Environment
- Snow License Manager (SLM) 7/8
- Snow Management and Configuration Center (Snow MACC)
Analysis
- Check that quarantine management is active for that computer in SLM by going to computer details - information tab - quarantine management field
- Also check the date the date the computer was quarantined in the status field below
Resolution
There are two options to resolve this issue:
Option 1:
If Quarantine management is not active then check the Snow MACC for quarantine management global settings. This can also be changed per each computer, tby clikcing edit computer and then under the General tab deselect Disable automatic quarantine management.
Option 2:
Use this option if a computer is not moving to inactive/delete despite quarantine management being active.
- QUARANTINE_DELETE which moves a computer from Quarantine to Inactive/Delete is a calculation based on how many days a computer has been in Quarantine.
Therefore calculating based on number of days since last scan is irrelevant (it is relevant for the calculation of moving a computer from Active to Quarantine).
As long as the status calculation is correct and the management follows this then it is working correctly.
- Analysing why a computer moved to quarantine on the wrong date is difficult after it has moved to quarantine, a simple answer would be the quarantine days has changed since the action took place.
If a machine has been set to inactive either manually or through quarantine management action it will not be triggered by the quarantine management action DELETE so will not be removed from Snow License Manager.
For the inactive machines to be deleted you will need to multi-select the machines in list all computers and choose delete.
