Summary

This article explains cause and resolution of build error 5005.

Symptoms

When building a InstallShield project, the following error may occur:

ISDEV : fatal error -5005: Internal build error There are no NULL values allowed, or the column is about to be deleted but is referenced by another row.

Cause

This error is known to occur in the following scenarios:

A. The release has been corrupted.

B. The project file has been corrupted.

Resolution

To resolve this build error, try the following:

• Make a new release, giving the release a new name

• Save the project in XML format. View the project in an XML Editor to see if there are any XML syntax errors.

• Use the Direct Editor view to see if any of the tables are missing data.
