Summary
This article documents the correct procedure for deleting existing inventory from a project and documents the enhancement request raised in SCA-6506 which aims to track changes to project inventory and delete any inventory with no associated filesSymptoms
We found an issue which is FNCI don't update the database properly when the CodeBase is replaced. For example, we create a project and scan codebase which resulted in 10 inventory items.
Then, at same project we upload and replace codebase with less inventory, let's say 5 items and run scan again.
We found out the scan result was still listing 10 inventory items, instead of 5.
Also, some inventory will have no associated files.
Resolution
The existing project inventory in FlexNet Code Insight is maintained when a new codebase is selected to provide the opportunity for customers to add to their existing projects. An enhancement request has been raised, under reference SCA-6506, to track changes to the codebase and to delete any inventory groups with no associated files following a scan.
Customers that wish to delete project inventory can accomplish this using the multi select functionality in the Analysis Workbench Inventory Items panel. Alternatively customers can also create a new project for each differing codebase
