Summary
This article explains how to have a COM+ application be installed after InstallFinalize using the IS_COMPLUS_INSTALL_AT_FINALIZE propertySymptoms
When installing a COM+ application that has a shared .NET assembly or a dependency of a shared .NET assembly, the COM+ application installation will fail. For instance, Error 27508 can occur, indicating that there are missing dependencies.Cause
COM+ applications are normally installed by an in-script action named ISComponentServiceInstall, and Windows Installer does not commit the changes to the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) until the InstallFinalize action is called. Therefore, shared .NET assemblies are not yet installed by the time the COM+ application is installing.Resolution
InstallShield includes support for a new Windows Installer property called IS_COMPLUS_INSTALL_AT_FINALIZE. Use this property to specify one or more COM+ applications that should be installed by the ISComponentServiceFinalize action, which is called after the InstallFinalize action. To specify more than one COM+ application, separate each with a semicolon (;). To specify that all COM+ applications should be installed by the ISComponentServiceFinalize action, set the value of this property to ALL.Using this property is helpful if you want to install a COM+ application that contains .NET assemblies to be installed to the GAC because Windows Installer does not commit the changes made in the in-script session to the GAC until the InstallFinalize action.
