The License Agreement panel allows the installation developer to specify a path to a file on the build machine. If the localized license file is UTF-8 encoded, then the localized text may not display correctly, as InstallAnywhere is reading the file using the default system encoding, rather than the actual file encoding.Resolution
Ideally, InstallAnywhere should provide a "file encoding" property which would allow the installation developer to specify the file encoding of the license file. Currently InstallAnywhere does not provide such functionality. This feature enhancement is being tracked under work order number IOC-000056811.
Workaround
The issue can be worked around in one of two ways:
1. The localized file can be saved in ANSI encoding. Note that the localized file must be saved on a machine matching whose local matches the local of the file; otherwise, corruption of the file may result.
2. If the localized file is UTF-8 encoded, the Java System Property file.encoding can be set to UTF-8. This property can be set by specifying the following value under project->JVM Settings->Installer Settings (in InstallAnywhere 2011).
-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8
As an alternative, the following environment variable can be set prior to launching the installer:
_JAVA_OPTIONS=-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8
