When installing, upgrading, or reinstalling the FlexNet Inventory Agent on Windows, you may encounter the error:
ndtrack.exe is not marked for installation
This issue typically occurs because stale files from a previous agent installation remain on the system.
1. Locate the Agent MSI log
- Go to:
C:\Users\<AccountRunningTheInstall>\AppData\Local\Temp\
- Find the log file:
FlexNet Inventory Agent.msi.log
- Open the log and search for ***Related***. You will see an entry similar to:

- Note the GUID from the log.
- In this example:
73B0D833-3897-4DBD-87D3-3BDD9DE29323
2. Remove the stale GUID(s) using MsiZap
This article includes an attached executable file (msizap.zip, developed by Microsoft) that helps remove stale GUIDs. Download and extract msizap.zip.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Run the following command:
MsiZap.exe TW {73B0D833-3897-4DBD-87D3-3BDD9DE29323}
- Replace the GUID with the one identified from your
agent.msi.log. - Repeat this step for each GUID found in the log.
After removing the stale GUID(s), re-run the agent installation.
- If the installation still fails, check the log for additional GUIDs, remove them using MsiZap, and retry.
