After upgrading to Snow License Manager (SLM) 25.1.0, the Snow Inventory Server Service may fail to start. The Snow Inventory Service log shows that no valid API source or endpoint is available.
In the Snow Inventory Service log, you may see entries similar to:
INFO InventoryServiceRuntime; Services to start: ComputerDeleteService, UserDeleteService, DeviceDeleteService
INFO ConfigurationService; No API-Sources found for InventoryDBID: 1
INFO ConfigurationService; No API-Sources found!
INFO WindowsServiceHost; [Topshelf] Started
ERROR DeviceDeleteService; No valid API-endpoint found, aborting!
ERROR UserDeleteService; No valid API-endpoint found, aborting!
ERROR ComputerDeleteService; No valid API-endpoint found, aborting!
This issue occurs when the API key and server address tables are empty, which prevents the service from finding a valid API endpoint.
To confirm, check whether these tables contain data:
select * from SnowInventory.inv.APIKey
select * from SnowLicenseManager.inv.tblAPIKey
select * from SnowLicenseManager.dbo.tblAPIKey
select * from SnowInventory.inv.ServerAddress
select * from SnowLicenseManager.inv.tblServerAddress
select * from SnowLicenseManager.dbo.tblServerAddress
Recreate the API configuration by updating the HTTPS binding in Snow Inventory Configuration Center.
- Open Snow Inventory Configuration Center.
- Go to Change Configuration > Change HTTPS Binding.
- Confirm that you have a valid DNS value on both the Base Address and License Manager tabs.
- Click Next, select Create, and complete the wizard.
- Start the Snow Inventory Server Service.
After completing the steps above, the service should start successfully. Confirm that the tables now contain data:
select * from SnowInventory.inv.APIKey
select * from SnowLicenseManager.inv.tblAPIKey
select * from SnowLicenseManager.dbo.tblAPIKey
select * from SnowInventory.inv.ServerAddress
select * from SnowLicenseManager.inv.tblServerAddress
select * from SnowLicenseManager.dbo.tblServerAddress
