Users may experience an issue in which the Snow Update Service (SUS) may not detect Snow Inventory Server 6.9.4 as an available update. Instead, SUS shows that the latest products are already installed.
In the SUS log file (C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Logs\UpdateService), you may see errors similar to:

System.ArgumentException: Could not decrypt encrypted string. Make sure the correct salt/location is used.
at SnowSoftware.Update.Data.CryptationManager.Decrypt(String encryptedString, String saltLocation, String saltName)
This typically occurs when the database connection has changed (for example, due to a password update) but the change has not been updated in the SUS database connection settings.
- Navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow Inventory\Server
- Launch snowserverconfig.exe (Snow Server Config tool).
- Stop the service when prompted.
- Select Change configuration.
- Select Change database connection settings.
- Verify the Inventory database details are correct.
- Re-enter the username and password for the database account (typically the SA account).
- Save and close the configuration tool.
- Restart the service.
- Relaunch SUS.
