Summary
Using shared components with files that have COM Information creates missing registry entries.
Symptoms
Using shared components with files that have COM Information creates missing registry entries.
Resolution
With shared components, there is only one entry in the components table but two references in the features table. The problem is when the entries are created in the MSI tables, they reference only one feature. The TypeLib table displays the reference to the NewFeature2 Feature. If that feature is not installed, the registry information will be missing. This is something that exists within the windows installer service and was done by design.
