How to configure the FlexNet Code Insight Electronic Update to use the Proxy server settings

This article discusses how to ensure the Electronic Update uses the settings in the core.proxy.server.properties file

Synopsis

In FlexNet Code Insight 6.11.1 the check for the proxy server settings was removed from the Electronic Update functionality. This was changed as the Electronic Update used SFTP on port 22 and should not have been affected by the proxy settings for ports 80 and 443. A number of customers have requested that this functionality be returned to the product.

Workaround

An enhancement request was raised with our Engineering team under reference SCA-3554 which aims to add the functionality to perform the Electronic Update using the proxy server settings if desired. To ensure customers who do not require this functionality are not affected, an option as been added to the core.proxy.server.properties file in FlexNet Code Insight 6.12.1 which allows the user to select whether to use these properties or not. An example of the updated core.proxy.server.properties file is below:

#Sets the host name of a HTTP proxy server
#httpclient.proxy-host=<PROXY_HOST>

#Sets password credential for proxy authentication
#httpclient.proxy-password=<PROXY_PASSWORD>

#Sets the domain credential for proxy authentication
#httpclient.proxy-domain=<PROXY_DOMAIN>
