Inventory connections can be removed from the Data Imports page in Flexera One IT Asset Management. When an inventory connection is deleted, inventory data imported exclusively through that connection—and not duplicated in another inventory source—is removed from the operation databases. Data that is also reported by another inventory source remains available until the final source identifying that data is deleted.
Instructions:
- In Flexera One IT Asset Management, navigate to:
Data Collection > IT Assets Inventory Tasks > Data Imports - Select the Inventory Data tab.
- Locate the inventory connection that you want to remove.
- Select the expander arrow on the far right of the connection to display its details.
- Select Delete connection.
- On the confirmation dialog, select OK to confirm the deletion.
Important considerations:
- Deleting an inventory connection permanently removes the connection with no option to undo.
- When a connection is removed, inventory data imported exclusively through that connection and not duplicated in another source is removed from the operation databases.
- If the same device or inventory record is also reported by another inventory source, the corresponding record may remain in IT Asset Management.
- For a connection that operates through an inventory beacon, remove the corresponding connection from the FlexNet Beacon interface as well. If the Beacon-side connection remains configured, the next upload from that connection can recreate the central connection record.
- It is not possible to delete the built-in IT Asset Management connection.
- For reference, see the Inventory Data Tab help page at docs.flexera.com.
Delete or disable the connection?
If the connection may be used again, consider setting Connection status to Disabled instead of deleting it. Disabling a connection prevents new data from that connection from being included in subsequent imports. Previously imported data remains in the database and may continue to affect calculations. Deleting the connection is appropriate when the inventory source is no longer required and its source-exclusive data should be removed.

Expected results:
After the connection is deleted:
After the connection is deleted:
- The connection is removed from the Data Imports page.
- Inventory data supplied exclusively by that connection is removed during subsequent import and reconciliation processing.
- Data also supported by another inventory source remains.
- The visible results may not change immediately because the imported data must be processed.
- A Beacon-managed connection may be recreated if it remains configured on the inventory beacon.
Scope and exceptions:
These instructions apply to deletable inventory connections shown under Data Imports > Inventory Data, including supported third-party inventory and spreadsheet connections. Some inventory sources may have specific cleanup requirements. For example, Active Directory data is not managed as a deletable inventory connection in the same way. Additional investigation or supported database cleanup may be required for obsolete Active Directory data.

Additional information:
The Last completed import section displays results from the most recently completed import. It does not display results from an import that is currently running. Therefore, the status shown in this section may differ from the current Task status displayed for the connection.
