Symptoms

ISDEV : fatal error -6212: Internal build error occurs from either an automated build process MSBuild or the Visual Studio IDE


Cause

Issue with ISWIScanners.dll

Steps To Reproduce

  • Install Visual Studio and InstallShield 2015 on a clean machine
  • Using Visual Studio: File > New > Project
  • Under InstallShield Projects select Basic MSI project
  • Under Organization > Setup Design: Add Feature and component
  • Point to a dll built based on .Net Framework
  • Build





Resolution

An InstallShield 2015 hotfix for this issue is attached.

To apply the fix, follow the steps below:

? Based on product -
make a backup copy of \Program Files (x86)\InstallShield\2015 SAB\System\ISWIScanners.dll.
make a backup copy of \Program Files (x86)\InstallShield\2015\System\ISWIScanners.dll.

? Extract ISWIScanners.dll from the attached zip file to the path -
\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield\2015 SAB\System\.
\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield\2015\System\.

? Rebuild your project using MSBuild or the Visual Studio IDE.

Additional Information

This hotfix should resolve the build error -6212 and -7325. This issue has been tracked under Master Issue IOJ-1733016 so that the fix will be incorporated into the next release of InstallShield.
