After integrating Snow Commander with LDAP, you may be able to add LDAP users but find they cannot log in. In these cases, Commander logs often show errors indicating that the LDAP entry cannot be found. This issue typically occurs when the LDAP server does not allow anonymous searches.
- Check the vcommander.log file for entries similar to:
Authenticating user cnalaar Ldap login as cnalaar failed javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: Cannot find user's LDAP entry - Update Commander LDAP configuration:
- Go to Configuration > System Configuration, then Authentication tab.
- Select the LDAP directory service and click Edit.
- Click Next until you reach the Identity page.
- Disable the Anonymous Search option.
- Click Next and Finish to save your changes.
Outcome
Disabling anonymous searches ensures Commander can authenticate users by properly querying the LDAP server. LDAP users will now be able to log in successfully.
