This article contains sample code and explains how to manually register and unregister a DLL from InstallScript.

Discussion

All references to MySelfRegDll are the name of the self-registering DLL that will be registered via script:

1. Prototype the DllRegisterServer and DllUnregisterServer functions for your DLL name:

   prototype MySelfRegDll.DllRegisterServer();
   prototype MySelfRegDll.DllUnregisterServer();

2. Register the DLL:

   // If not maintenance mode (i.e., first time install)
   if (!MAINTENANCE) then
     try
       UseDLL( TARGETDIR ^ "MySelfRegDll.dll" );
       MySelfRegDll.DllRegisterServer();
       UnUseDLL( TARGETDIR ^ "MySelfRegDll.dll" );
     catch
       MessageBox( "General Failure", INFORMATION );
     endcatch;
   endif;

3. Unregister the DLL:

   // If Maintenance and Removeall (i.e., uninstall)
   if (MAINTENANCE && REMOVEALL) then
     try
       UseDLL( TARGETDIR ^ "MySelfRegDll.dll" );
       MySelfRegDll.DllUnregisterServer();
       UnUseDLL( TARGETDIR ^ "MySelfRegDll.dll" );
     catch
       MessageBox( "General Failure", INFORMATION );
     endcatch;
   endif;
