Summary

When you are installing InstallShield on your computer, the InstallShield Wizard displays the Select Language panel as part of the installation process. On this Dialog, there is a prompt to select an installation run-time language from a list of languages that are offered.

Synopsis

When you are installing InstallShield on your computer, the InstallShield Wizard displays the Select Language panel as part of the installation process. On this Dialog, there is a prompt to select an installation run-time language from a list of the approx 35 languages that are offered. Some earlier versions of InstallShield will have less languages to select.


Discussion

English Version of InstallShield 2012 or earlier

The language selected in the Select Language Dialog is the runtime language that will be used for all of the installation projects authored, as referenced in the End-User License Agreement.

When you are installing AdminStudio, this option applies only to the Editor tool within the AdminStudio Suite. The language selected here will determine the language that will be displayed during runtime for setups. The language selected will not affect other aspects of AdminStudio such as the language of the IDE.

Japanese Versions of InstallShield 2012 or earlier

Japanese versions provide English as a runtime language and allow you to select one other runtime language. The additional runtime language is provided in order to be consistent with past Japanese releases.

Authoring Installations for Other Languages

To author installations that run in languages other than the language initially selected during product installation, pursue one of the following methods:

  • To author an installation with a runtime language that is not offered, export the run-time strings for translation, translate the strings, and import the translated strings into your installation project.
  • To author an installation in a language that you did not initially select as the run-time language, or to author a multilingual installation, see the following table. Note that a multilingual installation offers the end user a choice of various run-time languages.

If you purchased any language packs, you can specify a language in the Project Properties area of the General Information view.

Language packs are no longer sold for these product versions. Therefore, if you did not previously purchase any language pack, consider upgrading to the latest version of InstallShield Premier Edition.

If you purchased any language packs, you can specify a language in the Project Properties area of the General Information view.
