Using a Response File is the method to run an uninstallation silently. Prepare a response file (*.iss) for the uninstallation by running Setup.exe with the /r argument:
-
Install your InstallScript MSI installation package.
-
Type the following at the command line to capture uninstall response information:
Setup.exe /r -
Locate the Setup.iss file generated in the Windows folder and copy it to the desired location.
-
Type the following at the command line:
Setup.exe /s /f1"<FULLY qualified path>\YourResponseFile.iss"
Notes:
- Items in Italics represent data that is specific to your product's install/uninstallation.
- The /f1 parameter is necessary to specify the alternative response file name and path.
- The response file is a static file which records the specific UI dialog responses in a given session. So if you have customized the UI experience during uninstallation so that different UI dialogs may/may not appear, then you may need to account for this with recording/using multiple response files.
