Problem

When attempting to connect to the FlexNet Operations upload server upload.flexnetoperations.com using FileZilla, users may encounter the following error:  

Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS

Error: Connection timed out.

Cause

A recent update to the FileZilla FTP client changed the default encryption type from "use only plain FTP (insecure)" to "explicit FTP over TLS is available". While this was done to make FTP connections more secure, many FTP sites do not support this more secure level of encryption. In this case, attempts to connect to these sites using the default settings in FileZilla may fail.

If you are unable to connect to an FTP site using the Quickconnect bar, you may need to go into the Site Manager and change the encryption type.

Resolution 

To successfully connect, you’ll need to adjust the encryption settings in FileZilla’s Site Manager:

1. Open FileZilla and click the Site Manager icon (usually a server icon in the top-left corner).
2. Enter your connection information in the Host, User and Password fields.
3. Change the Encryption to Only use plain FTP (insecure) and change the Logon Type to Normal.
   
4. Click Connect.

You should now be able to connect to your FTP site. If the issue persists, raise a support case.
