In some cases, you may need to enable debug logging for the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Agent to gather more detailed logs or troubleshoot specific components. This article provides steps for enabling debug logging in both Windows and Linux environments.
For Windows or Linux with GUI
- Stop the agent service.
- Go to the agent installation directory and double-click
agentconfiguration.bat. - Important: Do not run this file as an administrator.
- If you encounter errors in the command prompt, the user account running the service may be missing the necessary permissions.
- Select Show Advanced Settings.
- Select Next until you reach Step 4 of 5.
- Under Logging Threshold, select Debug Messages for general troubleshooting.
- Additional component-level debugging options are available but typically not required.
- Select Next, then Save your changes.
- Restart the agent service.
For Linux (without GUI)
- Navigate to the agent installation directory and open the following file:
<Agent Install Directory>/conf/config.properties
- Add one or more of the following settings to enable debug logging:
Main log setting to enable debug logging
log.level=DEBUG
Message debug logging
message.debug=true
Queue debug logging
queue.debug=true
Administrative Server debug logging
broker.webAdmin=true
To disable debugging later, set log.level=INFO and change the other values to false.
- Save the file and restart the agent service.
Debug logging is now enabled for the agent. You can use these logs to assist with troubleshooting and provide detailed information to Flexera Support if needed.
