Destination-based quotas in Commander allow flexible allocation control across multiple destinations. Because VMs count toward only one quota, planning the level at which quotas apply is essential for accurate management.
- Commander assigns VMs to the most specific destination quota available.
- VMs in subfolders are not counted for quotas applied at higher-level folders.
Refer to the scenarios below for examples of how quotas are calculated:
-
Scenario One
A destination quota at Datacenter 1 will count only VM6. -
Scenario Two:
Quotas configured at Datacenter 1 and Folder 1 split VM assignments as follows:- Datacenter 1 counts VM6.
- Folder 1 counts VM1, VM2, and VM3.
-
Scenario Three:
Quotas configured at Datacenter 1, Folder 1, and Folder 2 result in:- Datacenter 1 counts VM6.
- Folder 1 counts VM1, VM2, and VM3.
- Folder 2 counts VM4 and VM5.
Outcome
Understanding quota allocation ensures proper planning for accurate resource limits across datacenters and folders.
