Configuration of destination-based quotas in Commander is very flexible, and allows quota control for multiple destinations to be available. VMs will only ever be counted for quota by a single destination, so you have to plan at what level the quota will be managed carefully. Commander allocates the VMs to the most specific destination targeted by a quota and will not count VMs in folders or subfolders off the target.
Using the diagram below, refer to the following examples to understand which VMs will be counted against the quotas assigned at different levels.
Scenario One
A destination quota configured at Datacenter 1 will count only VM6.Scenario Two
With destination quotas configured at Datacenter 1 and Folder 1 the quota will be divided between them. The destination quota targeting Datacenter 1 will only count VM6. The destination quota targeting Folder 1 will count VM1, VM2, and VM3.Scenario Three
With destination quotas configured at Datacenter 1, Folder 1, and Folder 2 the quota will be divided between them. The destination quota targeting Datacenter 1 will only count VM6.
