Question on "FLEXlm key data has expired" (FlexNet Publisher JAVA platforms 11.19.5)

This exception occurred when I tried to checkout the license.

Which key's expiration caused this? The vendor key or something else?
Is the expiration date within `flexlm.jar`?
If so, does this mean that the `flexlm.jar` file already purchased will become unusable once the FlexLM expiration date has passed?
If not, what checks the FlexLM expiration date?
