This article provides guidance on initial steps to take when experiencing connection failures between IT Visibility (ITV) and Jamf Pro. If re-entering the client secret, testing the connection, and saving temporarily resolves the issue, but the problem recurs after some time, it may be related to the access token's lifetime settings.
- Verify access token lifetime:
- In Jamf Pro, the access token's lifetime determines how long the token remains valid for accessing resources. It’s measured in seconds.
- If the access token expires, API calls will return a 401 Unauthorized error.
- Ensure that the access token lifetime is set to an appropriate duration (recommended 300 seconds or more) to prevent frequent expirations.
- Understand token behavior:
- An access token remains valid until its designated expiry time, even if the associated client is disabled or the token is revoked.
- Managing the token's lifetime is crucial to maintain a stable connection between IT Visiblity and Jamf Pro.
