- Login to the Azure portal.
- Browse to Azure Active Directory > Enterprise Applications and select New Application.
- Click Create your own application.
- Enter a meaningful Name for the application and select Integrate any other applications you don't find in the gallery (Non-gallery). Click Create.
- Now that the application has been created, navigate to Azure Active Directory and select App Registrations.
- Filter the list by the application name you chose in Step 4. Select your application from the filtered list.
- Copy the Directory ID and the Application ID and store the values in a secure location. You will use this later on in this procedure.
- From the Manage menu, choose Certificates & secrets and then click New client secret.
- Provide a meaningful Description for the new secret and select when it Expires (Snow recommends 12 months). Click Add.
- Copy the Value of the secret and store securely with the Application ID and Directory ID for use later.
- Navigate to Cost Management + Billing and select Exports under Settings.
- Create a New Export:
- Enter a meaningful Name.
- Select Actual cost (Usage and Purchases) as the Metric.
- Select Daily export of month-to-date costs as the Export type.
- Choose the Start Date.
- Select the Subscription, Storage account, Container and Directory to use. Alternatively, select Create new. In either case, record the information securely with the other details noted so far.
- Navigate to the Subscription that includes the billing export container, and select Access control (IAM). Click Add > Add role assigment. You will add the application you created to two roles.
- Select the Monitoring Reader role, and choose to Assign access to > User, group, or service principal. Click Select members and add your application.
- Repeat what you have done for the Monitoring Reader role for the Storage Blob Data Reader role.
- Login to Snow Cloud Cost.
- Browse to Accounts > Cloud Accounts and select Microsoft Azure. Click Let's Start.
- Choose the Billing Export option and click Next.
- Enter the information collected previously in Steps 7 and 10. Click Test to verify and add the storage information to Snow Cloud Cost. When the test is successful, you will be directed to configure the storage for the billing export.
- Enter the information collected previously in Step 12 and click Save.
The initial synchronization of data between Azure and Snow Cloud Cost can take up to 24 hours. Until the synchronization has completed, you will see the following in the UI:
