CTL3D32.dll install issue on Windows 7...
I have an installation which works on Windows 2000 and XP, but when I run it on Windows 7 (64-bit system), I get the dialog box with the message "This application uses CTL3D32.DLL, which has not been correctly installed. CTL3D32.DLL must be installed in the Widows system directory."

 

[ The installed application runs fine...CTL3D32.DLL is actually already installed on the Windows 7 system. ]

 

I have tried the following "system" directories, C:\Windows\System, C:\Windows\System32, and C:\Windows\SysWOW64.

 

Same error message.

 

I have even tried telling the install NOT to install this DLL if the target system is Windows 7, AND I STILL GET THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE.

 

I'm at a loss at this point...any ideas?

    Can you provide a log so we can see exactly when this message is occurring? Perhaps it's actually referencing a custom action or something that uses this DLL that isn't working on a 64-bit operating system?

    Well huh that's one tiny log, I didn't see anything wrong, but then again I didn't see anything useful (like any of your installation actions). When debugging an install I typically use /l*v, which yes, can create upwords of 10mb log files with my products, but it pays to be verbose when issues arise.
